Here I actually found an old photo of a Lofot Horse where the text is saying it is taken at Rødøy alias Rodo.

"... as well as the curly ponies on the island of Rodo off Norway."
I've found out which island it can be, Rødøy (can you read my letters?), which would earlier with old fashioned (Danish) spelling be Rødø, taken into account the ø letter is not in English and substituted with o, it becomes Rodo. It is just south of Lofoten Islands where there was living a breed of wild ponies called Lofothest, in English Lofot Horse. The last one was shot in 1898, and is stuffed out at a museum, I've seen it, and it has at least 6 inches long coat, it says that some places on the body the coat could become up to 20 inches! See pics of it here: http://www.olnorse.com/hp/lofothest/index2.html. Even if it is not particurlarly curly, some individuals might be curly enough to be the breed that is cited in the Myth and Mystery. Interesting to see the drawing of one at the webpage which is a lot curlier than the stuffed specimen. Lene
